After you run to the bank to celebrate, you must sign and send to the court house the Acknowledgement of Satisfaction of Judgement otherwise you may be fined.
What they don't also tell you is that as the judgement creditor, you must file a Form SC-290
http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/sc290.pdf
You have up to 15 days from the date of payment to file this. Otherwise, they may fine you $50.
My ex-landlord requested that I send these documents to them but I have no obligation to send them any form of paperwork.
What they need to do is to find out if and when those two forms are submitted and have been received by the court. They must request three certified copies of this acknowledgement and send it to the three credit report firms: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
